‘Saturday Night Live’ books Paul Rudd, John Goodman, Jimmy Fallon, and Justin Timberlake
There really could not be any more Christmas cheer of “Saturday Night Live” tried for their upcoming episodes airing this Christmas. There are going to be three of them, and all of them feature returning hosts who have proven themselves, and even some musical guests who have also performed on the show in the past.
We begin with the first Saturday after Thanksgiving weekend on December 7, which will feature Paul Rudd hosting with One Direction joining as a musical guest for the second time. while there may be five of them and that is hard to fit into a sketch, “SNL” did manage to pull it off the last time that Harry Styles and company were on the show. Who’s to say that they may not be able to do something this great again?
Meanwhile, John Goodman returns for a whopping 13th time as host on the December 14 show, and he will be accompanied by a group returning for the third time in Kings of Leon. Goodman is the sort of guy who we really feel could host this show a billion times, and we’d never get bored of him. There is just so much in the way of live performing that he brings to the table, and is the most underrated “SNL” host that the show has ever had.
Finally, we turn to December 21, where Jimmy Fallon is going to be hosting the holiday show for the second time in the last three years. The twist? Justin Timberlake will be the musical guest, making this the second time in 2013 that the “TKO” singer has graced the show. Basically, we see this as Jimmy and Justin co-hosting; they have a great rapport together, and this is something that Lorne Michaels, as executive producer of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” is very familiar with already.
