‘Glee’ season 5 song spoilers: Hear Darren Criss, Chord Overstreet tackle ‘Movin’ Out’
When you look at some of Darren’s own musical sensibilities, they actually marry Billy’s in a way. This is a guy who tackles the piano as his instrument of choices, writes many of his own songs, and also likes to tell stories and get interactive with the audience. While we don’t know if Joel is one of Darren’s primary inspirations in music, he certainly feels like he could be one.
The best thing about this song being in the episode right now is that it feels almost like it legitimately fills two separate purposes. Not only does this song match thematically with the whole notion of moving out of Lima and figuring out your future (which is a theme of this episode for the two characters), but you could apply that same sort of theme for either Tina or Artie. These four have some big decisions to make in the coming weeks, and we just hope they pick something that brings the original gang back together. Chord Overstreet said in a recent interview that episode 14 will be the one where graduation happens, which means that we could have a full eight episodes of just the New York storyline, which would set up a final season perfectly featuring primarily the characters that we have come to know and love for so long.
What do you think about this rendition of the song, and how it compares to the original? Share below! Of course, we’ll have a full review of this episode up after it airs, and we only hope that it fares a little better than the near-disaster that was “The End of Twerk.”
