‘Parks and Recreation’ season 6 spoilers: Amy Poehler says there will be no Ann replacement
How is “Parks and Recreation” going to make up for the loss of two of their most-popular characters on the show in Chris and Ann? While they are staying mostly mum for now on some of the finer details, Amy Poehler does apparently want you to know one thing: However that they do plan to do it, it will be in a way that does not involve just trying to funnel in some other female character to replace Rashida Jones and become Leslie Knope’s best friend.
Amy Poehler, speaking recently per Entertainment Weekly, joked that the idea of there being a replacement for Ann was “disgusting.” Meanwhile, she also explained that the nature of the friendship between the two characters is one of the reasons why they
“The relationship between Leslie and Ann is one of the prouder things I feel about the show because I feel, unfortunately, that there’s a lack of real female friendships on television that make any sense. Leslie and Ann are true friends in a way you can understand, and I’m really proud of that friendship and how it’s grown over the years and how it’s, frankly, one of the many beating hearts on our show.”
While we are sure that there will be at least discussions about a new face in Pawnee (not a new replacement per se) if the show is renewed for a seventh season, we have yet to hear anything about someone being added this year. As a matter of fact, the show may need to figure out first if it is going to even survive the rest of the spring. The ratings are pretty atrocious, to the point where NBC has tried to push the lineup off with “The Voice” and other things so far. But while this is one of the best comedies on TV and has been for years, there could be a time when the network executives at NBC decide that it is time to give the show a send-off. (We’re still hoping that they are big enough fans that they will keep it regardless.)
