‘Dancing with the Stars’ 17: Eliminated Leah Remini lands new gig on ‘The Exes’

Meet Leah -The moment that Leah Remini was eliminated on “Dancing with the Stars,” there was one thought that almost immediately entered our mind: She would be great on a TV Land series! Seriously. Kirstie Alley has a new show coming up on the network, and with her experience on sitcoms and making people laugh, this has become almost the perfect place form actors in this field to get back to doing some of what they do best.

While the former “King of Queens” star is not getting her own sitcom like Kirstie did just yet, Deadline reports that she has landed a major recurring role on “The Exes.” Specifically, she will play the role of Nicki, a quick-tempered woman from Staten Island who decides to get much closer to her brother Stuart after her 17-year marriage sadly comes to an end. She is going to spend some time with all of the series regulars on the show, and hopefully bring a new, fun dynamic to a show that is one of the network’s most-popular programs.

But will Remini have her own show someday? We wouldn’t put it past her, or her joining “The Exes” permanently at some point. The fact that she made it all the way to the final five this season on the ballroom competition, advancing past many people who were arguably better dancers, just goes to show that she has a substantial following out there. The strategy now just seems to be trying to find the right way to tap into that, and her returning to comedy seems to be a major step in the right direction. We’ll just wait and see how she fares here.
