Ratings: ‘Almost Human’ falls sharply, ‘The Voice’ continues slide
We expected to see “Almost Human” take a bit of a ratings hit on Monday night without NFL football as a lead-in, but now we are starting to feel like this could be the latest new J.J. Abrams series following “Revolution” and “Undercovers” to be quite a bit of a ratings disappointment.
Overall, the show drew a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic in its second episode, which is down nearly a full point from the 3.1 that it drew for its premiere. This rating is probably even more deceptive when you consider that the show was airing against a recap show of “The Voice,” when it will be against it for the rest of the season.
Speaking of “The Voice,” its ratings do continue to fall. Last night’s top 10 performance show did draw a 3.4 rating in the demo, which is its lowest to date. What is the reason for that? We really just think that it’s singing-show fatigue, since this is one of the best crop of contestants that we have seen. It may just hurt that there is no instant overwhelming favorite that is going to have a ton of viewers. As a matter of fact, the extremely steady “How I Met Your Mother” (which drew a 3.1) may be enough to eventually top it as we get closer and closer to the end of the season. The silver lining is that as we near the finale, the numbers will probably increase again.
We can’t really talk about ABC’s numbers thanks to NFL football airing on them in select markets, but we do want to give a little bit of credit to “Hart of Dixie.” While a 0.4 is hardly a great rating, it is at least the same sort of number that we get week after week. This consistency may help the show sneak by and earn a season 4, along with of course hopes for syndication.
Do you think that “Almost Human” is going to last the full season? Share some of your thoughts below! We’ll have some more ratings scoop moving forward, so stay tuned for some more of that.
