‘Sleepy Hollow’ shocker: Who is the Horseman?

“Sleepy Hollow” has been known to drop a game-changer or two throughout its entire first season, but on Monday night’s new episode, the show decided to unleash on us one of the biggest ones of the entire series to this point: The true identity of the Horseman. This was someone who had a personal reason to go after Incabod Crane, and someone who was recruited to the army at some point, even though Crane thought for sure that he was dead: Abraham.

When it comes to potential shockers for the Horseman’s identity, this one has to rank pretty high up on the list. However, it’s not so crazy as, say, Katrina somehow managing to be the creature … which would DEFINITELY change the entire mythology of the story. However, Katrina still played a big part in the reveal, as Ichabod now realizes that freeing her is going to be more integral than ever before to trying to figure out how to really stop this reign of terror from continuing any further.

Oh, and how about another big shocker? Andy is in possession of the relic, and is responsible at the moment for saving Ichabod’s life. We’re sure that the guy is pretty grateful for this, since it gives him an opportunity now to really plot and figure out his next move.

But what “Sleepy Hollow” fans should really be excited about here is that thanks to all of these reveals, you are more likely than ever about to see some more serialized stories leading up to the big finale, given that there is only so much time to determine whether or not Katrina can be freed from the demonic location that she’s in. There’s a lot going on here, but the writers have managed to at least make most of it work now. “Sleepy Hollow” remains one of the shining stars of the new season, and is really proving that in between this show and “The Blacklist,” Monday night is where to be.
