TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 3 lands February premiere date, will be split in half
Well, at least some of the rumors out there when it comes to the upcoming third season of “Dallas” are true: The new season is going to officially be split into halves, rather than it just airing over the course of the winter. When it comes to trying to actually ensure that the show has some good ratings, this does appear to be the right move to not jam it up against the May or the February sweeps, when there is new stuff airing on other networks.
The premiere date for season 3, per TV Guide, is going to be Monday, February 24 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. The show will for eight weeks at this time, and then will have another run of seven episodes that air during the December. The premiere date is at the tail end of sweeps and after the Super Bowl and awards season, and all of that appears to be pretty smart. The only major threat that the show is likely going to have at that time is new episodes of “The Voice,” but who knows? Maybe some will start to have their fill of singing competitions at that point, and then start to move on to something different.
In speaking about some of the actual stories that you can expect to see play out on “Dallas” this coming season, just take a look at what showrunner Cynthia Cidre had to say in a new interview with the website:
“We will have two season openers and two cliffhangers. We have tried this season to make the show more about Ewing family conflicts — secrets, lies and betrayals. And I think we have succeeded.”
Meanwhile, fellow EP Michael Robin chose to add the following, which should give those of you who love soapy drama a reason to start getting excited already:
“This is a very sexy season with a roll in the hay and several hook-ups in a hotel. And we have lots of big events: Ewing barbecues and the biggest Southfork wedding yet!”
