‘The X Factor’ UK: Luke Friend receives huge Adele endorsement

Luke Friend -Well, there really is not a better person that Luke Friend could have gotten an endorsement from on “The X Factor” UK this season than Adele. This is a woman that has an enormous amount of success around the globe; not only that, but she is not a woman that frequently tweets. So to see her go on her official account and actually say something about you is quite the nice feeling, especially since she hasn’t really done that all season long.

Now that we have spelled all of this out, let’s go ahead and share the message from the singer, which is sure to be a part of some sort of rehearsal package on next weekend’s show just so that the show can pat itself on the back. This came after Friend performed his cover of “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” (originally by U2) as his save-me performance during the results show:

“Whoa Luke Friend was ridiculously good in that sing off on X factor! I want him to win! X”

Luke has already thanked Adele for her kind words, and what we are more curious to see is this: Does this sort of celebrity endorsement really make much of a difference at all when it comes to votes from the British public? We do not personally believe that it is going to make a huge difference, but it certainly does not hurt. We have seen a number of celebrity endorsements over the years that have really not helped a contestant, just as we have seen contestants with no fan followings at all (see Christopher Maloney for evidence of that) go really far. What matters the most in the end is what the public thinks. If they love you, they are going to be much more interested in giving you the title more so than some words of a celebrity will.

Do you agree with Adele’s sentiment at all? Disagree? Either way, be sure to share below, and click here if you want to read our full review of the results show on Sunday night.
