‘The Mentalist’ season 6, episode 7 review: Who is Red John? We finally know…
You have waited for Sunday night’s new episode of “The Mentalist” for quite some time, and we have a feeling that you are going to be even more excited about the next episode after watching “The Great Red Dragon.” By far, this was the most intense episode of the show to date.
Before we do anything else, we must say goodbye to Sheriff Thomas. The only bad part of this episode is that McAllister was such an unlikely suspect that he never appeared like the right guy for the job. It was easy to narrow this down to Gale Bertram and Reede Smith, and over the course of the first half hour of the episode, it was a hunt to try to make sure that these two were captured, and all of the information was found out about them. It was thanks to this that we learned about their secret society of “reformed” cops … but one of them was not reformed at all.
Unless there is some sort of massive twist coming, the information seems clear now that Gale Bertram is Red John. The only problem here is that Patrick Jane is no longer in charge of solving his murder. Led by Abbott at the FBI, the entire CBI was relieved of their duties. Apparently, this happens when you have a serial killer as your boss and you don’t even know it. At first, Jane seemed to this well, but the sight of him sitting at the church was particularly harrowing.
We suppose that ti is possible that somehow, Bertram is not actually Red John given that he has yet to confess, but with Reede Smith acting innocent and everyone else dead, we have to make our own assumptions now. It feels like the mystery part of this is over, and we’re now focusing a little more on the emotional arm of it as Jane tries to come to terms with not capturing the man he vowed to catch.
In the end, there is no other word to describe this episode other than “thrilling.” The show didn’t really pull any punches with its reveal, and it managed to be completely stunning … even when you consider that you already knew who the suspects were. Grade: A.
Update: In response to the internet, we did want to at least mention the Brett Partridge speculation that is out there right now. Could he still be Red John? In theory, but this to us almost seems even more obvious than Bertram. The only reason we’re not completely ruling it out is because word on the street is that he is one of the seven people on the list at the start of the season.

Since there is so much of Season 6 left I just don’t think Red John has been revealed.
This is an entire series overreaching story arch and there is no way that Bertram is Red John.
This underground group of law enforcement is what is throwing everyone off right now.
But I can tell you, Gale Bertram is just a whacko from the underground group and is not Red John!!
Mark that down! Way too much of the season left for Red John to be revealed already.

Bertram is a pretty diabolical dude.
The voice is the problem for me. I thought it was BOB KIRKLAND because of his voice. Maybe that was just to throw us off. Or maybe Kirkland isn’t really dead. Maybe Kirkland was so slick that he knew the organization would kill him and ha Reede working for him to make it look like he faked his death.
Remember though, RED JOHN Spoke DIRECTLY in Patrick Jane’s ear with a Costume on a couple seasons ago while Patrick was tied to a chair. The only way that was Bertram is if he has a Red John special voice.
So many twists can still come into play. Who knows.

No he said the bodies were “burnt to a crisp” and that DNA evidence proved their identities.

Even if Sheriff’s body is completely burnt, what’s the evidence that rules him out as RJ?

how did the sheriff get burnt to a crisp when he was up against the wall like jane, bertrum and reede and they didn’t have a scratch?
