‘The Walking Dead’ season 4, episode 6 preview: Watch David Morrissey, The Governor do nothing

The latest -If there was one song that we would use to describe The Governor in the sneak peek video below from Sunday night’s “The Walking Dead” season 4 episode, it would be the Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound of Silence.” We like to think that the video actually does a little something more for you if you listen to the song after watching it.

What we see here, by and large, is David Morrissey’s character continuing to sit in front of the world’s smallest tent, seemingly staring into nothingness. Then, just when you think that a zombie is going to come and eat his skin off, the zombie falls in the fire. Then, Martinez shoots it before it can do any harm to the man. There are two important things that come out of this:

1. Martinez is clearly still with The Governor … which surprises us, mostly because we would not think that anyone would still want to hang with this guy. Maybe he has an exit strategy, but he has not been able to execute it just yet.

2. The Governor really does not seem to care that much if he lives or dies, given that he is willing to just sit there and wait and see if someone else is going to be responsible for using a gun to save his life. That’s a little bit of a startling revelation in its own right, since it shows you just where the guy’s head is at … and the instability here is not a good sign for Rick and anyone else at the prison.

Sunday’s episode promises to be emotional in some ways, as we find out where this characters has been over the past several weeks, and what he plans on doing now. For David Morrissey, this will be plenty of opportunities to prove that he was kept around this season for a reason.
