Ratings: ‘Bones’ season 9 struggles immediately on Friday; ‘Raising Hope’ bombs completely
So to see “Bones” come in with just an audience of a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic was … disappointing, to say the least. We thought that the show could pull in around a 1.6, which would have been acceptable to the show when you consider all of the variables. This is, after all, Friday, and for the show to just one-up “Glee” and “The X Factor” would have been an achievement. Let’s just hope that the numbers go up next week, since this may have otherwise been Fox sending the show to die while premiering something in “Almost Human” this weekend that has no guarantee whatsoever of being a hit.
At least the news could be worse, and “Bones” could have been “Raising Hope.” It was clear almost immediately that this show pulled a renewal just to make it to syndication, and the 0.7 rating is abysmal. This was only slightly ahead of The CW, and far behind everything else. Though, to be fair, it’s really not that far behind the 1.2 rating that we’ve seen for “Dads” and “The Mindy Project” as of late, and we think that either one of those shows would be averaging around that in this same timeslot. Unless you are “Shark Tank,” we legitimately feel like 9:00 p.m. or later is the worst timeslot on TV right now. There’s even more hope on Saturdays, since people can return home from a night of recreation to relaxing in front of the tube.
