‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: The Royal Wedding cometh

Game of Thrones -Let’s be honest here: If you are a fan of “Game of Thrones,” you knew already that the Royal Wedding was going to be coming up on season 4. But still, to hear someone affiliated with the show right now to actually be talking about it in advance is rather surprising. For neophytes, we’re not going to be spoiling anything that happens in this episode; but, it should be obvious that this yet another wedding, and one of the most spectacular that you have seen to date.

In a post on her official Making of Game of Thrones blog, behind the scenes writer Cat Taylor detailed some of what you can expect to see from this grand event when it unfolds, at least in terms of the overall design and the number of “guests” that were invited to the affair. For those who are curious, this entire event was filmed in Croatia earlier this year:

“Filmed over a five day stretch, we waited with bated breath each day for the clouds to roll in and dampen our fun. Weather reports suggested imminent downpours at the end of the week, and only a few days before, water funnels had formed off the coast in the height of a rain storm. Aside from one short and dramatic burst where Costume scrambled to get all the extras under cover and everyone rushed to protect props, we were spared the worst of the predictions.

“In terms of principal cast members in attendance, the Royal Wedding was one of the largest scenes we’ve filmed since the premiere season, with 23 named parts appearing on any given day. In addition, we were delighted to welcome 218 extras as guests to the event, some of them travelling from the other side of Europe and the United States to be a part of the experience. Lookout for some familiar faces in the crowds – Pixie Le Knot is back this year, and one of our crew makes an appearance with the entertainers.”

What we constantly worry about with many shows that have these big, Red Wedding type events that following this up, there is an insurmountable sort of pressure to come back and do something better. Luckily, the cast and crew here actually stay pretty close to the source material, and aren’t exactly looking to pull any real rabbits out of their hats.
