‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5, episode 7 preview: Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, and Amara
How do you solve a problem like Amara? We imagine that, keeping the “Sound of Music” reference alive, she’s probably much more of a problem to solve than Maria. This is a woman who, as told to us by Damon and Stefan in the “Vampire Diaries” clip below, spent the majority of the past 2,000 years locked up in a box … though still immortal. It is hardly that big of a shocker to sit here and say that she is still tipping the insane scales to a certain degree. She is crazy, and we understand why given all that she’s been through.
The problem for Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley’s characters is trying to figure out a way to keep her and her crazy self alive long enough to be of service when it comes to connecting the human and spirit worlds. Wesley’s other character is Silas is supposed to lend some sort of hand here, but the problem is that he is nowhere to be found in Mystic Falls at the moment. This turns this into a long, complicated waiting game, and we are still pacing around to see what is going to become of it.
Actually, what we are somewhat disappointed about right now is that for whatever reason, The CW did not decide to release some of the footage of Nina Dobrev’s three separate characters all spending time with each other. That’s the sort of clone chaos that you traditionally only see on “Orphan Black,” and this is probably the best showcase of Nina’s acting ability that she has gotten to do since joining the show five years ago.
But, we are continuing to wait for the time being. “Death and the Maiden” is the title for this hour, and judging on the context clues that we are already seeing, it is hard to imagine this title being about anyone other than Silas and his longtime love.
