‘Criminal Minds’ season 9, episode 9 preview: First look at ‘Strange Fruit’
Next week on “Criminal Minds” season 9, we take another step closer to the landmark 200th episode that will air on CBS early next year; if nothing else, this story is going to bring by Esai Morales in the role of Mateo Cruz, the new BAU chief who has shown already that he has a history with at least one character on the show in JJ.
So what are we set to see from him and the story as a whole? Think along the lines of an emotional case all about some of the things that are left behind after years of decay, and those evil enough to try to cover up the secrets. While this may not necessarily be as shocking as putting together a child army (which has already happened this season), it is certainly disturbing in its own right. Just take a look at the full synopsis via CBS for a few more details:
“When skeletons are found in the backyard of a Virginia home, the BAU centers its investigation on the family living there, unearthing family secrets rooted in the past racial divisions in the South.”
This is going to be a tricky case for the BAU for so many reasons, as you have racial implications, history to deal with, and also some very violent people that could be tied to some of this history. The confrontation that seems to be coming up in the promo looks ugly. Unfortunately, there is not anything in here that allows us to be attached further to any of the characters, or gets us excited about the overall story as a whole that we’re going to see coming save for a couple of intense moments.
Given that this is the November sweeps, though, our advice is to keep on watching. This is the time of the year when the networks do like to surprise you.
