Marvel’s ‘Agents of SHIELD’ episode 8 preview: The aftermath of ‘Thor: The Dark World’

Ever since the very beginning of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD,” there has been a question that we know a good many fans of the show have had: Just how are the writers really going to tie all of this in to the “Avengers” or the other characters in the feature film universe? The stories can be grand in the sense of being challenging for all of the TV actors, but at the same time, they cannot be so big in scale that they interrupt the movies for anyone who is paying the big bucks to see them at the cinema and are not watching the show.

This is where we feel like next week’s new episode “The Well” is really pulling out all of the stops in order to get this right. The hour is set in the events that took place following “Thor: The Dark World,” and the hour is going to be spent with the characters by and large picking up the pieces of what was left from this blockbuster movie. It was smart to not have this episode air this week, mostly because that would dictate that serious Marvel fanatics rush out and see the movie in enough time to come back and catch this.

While it would be very much preferred that you see the movie before watching the episode just for the sake of getting every little Easter egg, it does not really appear that you will be too severely hampered watching this (at least based on the promo) if you are going into it fresh and just as a fan of the show. While there have been moments that “Agents of SHIELD” has disappointed us greatly, one of the things that they have done a great job of thus far is really finding the balance that can help new fans get into the show without having to read a 20-page manual on the history of Coulson and the rest of the characters.
