‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev celebrate 100 episodes
This weekend is very much a world of achievement when it comes to “The Vampire Diaries.” This is a show that has been on the air for five seasons, and while the 100th episode has not aired just yet, what we do at least know about it right now is that filming has just wrapped. This new was announced out of Atlanta pretty much all weekend long, and thanks to that, Saturday night became one worthy of great celebration for the various stars of the show.
In a post on Twitter, for example, Ian Somerhalder had the following to say, for example, while celebrating with some other cast and crew members at a party in the Georgia city:
“100 fricking episodes!Huh? You’re allso amazing-thanks 4 this insane spaceship ride.I truly thank & love you Love [Ian Somerhalder and Damon Salvatore].”
Ian’s role of Damon is definitely one that has evolved more in the past few years. When we first say the guy, he was a pretty ruthless vampire that only had a heart buried somewhere deep within a layer of snark and anger. His feelings for Elena have led to that “good side” eventually coming out of him, and he’s now in something that we would have never envisioned from him early on in the series: He is in a committed relationship.
So how much longer can this series go? While it’s a little premature to say that there are going to be another 100 episodes, we’re pretty sure about there being at least another 30 or so. A season 6 renewal is basically inevitable thanks to the ratings being strong so far this season, and from there, it is really all about how badly most of the actors on the show want to keep it going. If someone wants to leave, then the situation changes pretty dramatically.
