‘The X Factor’ UK results: Was Hannah Barrett, Abi Alton, or Sam Callahan eliminated?

The latest news -Tonight on “The X Factor” UK’s results show, we had performances from Robbie Williams (always entertaining) and Celine Dion. To go along with all of this, we had more proof that the majority of the people voting for this show are young girls picking up for the guys that they think are cute.

We don’t know why this is much of a surprise, as it has been a fatal flaw of this show for many years now. Unless you are Little Mix and the show specifically markets you to be “friends” to the ladies “not out to steal your boyfriends” (which is what Tulisa specifically said to the audience in her introductions), it’s hard to be a girl under 25 years old and get enough love to make it to the finale. Meanwhile, you can be a guy with only a moderate amount of talent and be put through. Just look at Sam Callahan, who was probably also helped by the sheer fact that he performed last.

The good news for Nicole Scherzinger is that Tamera Foster was safe this week, but the bad news is that her other two girls, in Hannah Barrett and Abi Alton, were in jeopardy.

Abi Alton, “Lego House” – A little bit all over the place when it comes to pitch, but one thing that you have to remember here is that Abi has a little bit more originality and artistry. Therefore, we think that she’ll actually do a little bit more after the competition is over.

Hannah Barrett, “Wrecking Ball” – This is the problem with the judges excusing Hannah’s bottom two appearance two weeks ago as a fluke. There is something not connecting here, and we think that it’s an issue of her being too sad and serious most of the time. There’s no doubt that she is the better singer of the two, but we’d keep Abi based on her ability to do things that are a little more interesting musically.

We did see Abi’s exit coming, since the judges have been hard on her for weeks. But when it comes to actually keeping someone who is a bigger threat to the guys, this is a mistake. Abi was mostly just hurt last night by going first on the show, and Hannah has already been in danger twice. Grade: C.
