‘The Blacklist’ spoilers: Alan Alda to work alongside James Spader in game-changing role

The Blacklist logo any seasonThroughout the run of “The Blacklist” so far, one of the real joys of the show has been trying to figure out if there is anyone out there who can legitimately serve as a threat to James Spader and his character of Raymond Reddington. This is a guy who has to this point not only come across as extremely dangerous, but extremely manipulative. There has consistently not been anyone more intelligent than him to take part in any of the cases, but that could be changing very soon.

As first reported by Access Hollywood, none other than entertainment legend Alan Alda is going to be appearing on an upcoming episode of the show as a person that is going to present some sort of real, interesting challenge for the Red character. He will warn him that a key piece of evidence in a case, when played, could end up with him being dead.

There is also another interesting little note about this character for fans of genre television. One of the biggest villains in the history of “Supernatural” is named Crowley, and so is Alda’s role. Who would have thought that Crowley was such a popular name? This is at least going to be a nice little change for Alda, who continues to do guest-starring roles here and there following an illustrious TV career that included gigs on “M*A*S*H” and a variety of other shows. This is NBC’s highest-rated program right now based on the ratings that are coming out, and it is continuing to prove time and time again that it has a great nose for finding guest stars. Justin Kirk of “Weeds” is going to be a villain in an upcoming installment, and we are fresh off of a guest spot for “House” alum Robert Sean Leonard.
