‘Bones’ season 9 spoilers: ‘Gossip Girl’ alum to join another wealthy family
Kelly Rutherford just cannot stay away from “gossip”-worthy roles. She was known for many years for playing the mother to Blake Lively’s Serena on The CW’s “Gossip Girl,” and now, she will be joining the world of “Bones” for an episode in a role tied to a current investigation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rutherford will specifically play the part of Stephanie McNamara, a woman from a powerful family with ties to Hodgins. Unfortunately, the two are not going to be altogether pleased to see each other in this circumstance, as it does not take her very long to realize that her brother is being investigated for a possible murder.
Given that Stephanie already knows one of the characters, we would probably be spiting-out-water surprised if she was actually the killer. Wouldn’t this make you at least start to question the kind of people that he was hanging out with? It would to us, but what Rutherford will hopefully at least bring here is plenty of bravado, and a chance to learn more about one of the characters that is already a part of the show. In the wake of Booth and Brennan now being an actual married couple, it’s increasingly important that we start to find out more about the others to keep this story going strong. Next week’s ratings are going to be a great test to see whether or not there is still interest in the show now that the honeymoon is (literally) over, and then the next test after that will come in seeing the move to Friday nights.
What do you think: Is Rutherford the right person for this role, and do you feel like “Bones” should give Hodgins and the rest of the supporting team even more to do now that the game has changed slightly and Booth and Brennan are now a married couple? Share your thoughts below! To see a promo for “The Dude in the Dam” (which is the next new episode), be sure to click here. There’s also a little bit of fun trivia in there about when this episode was actually filmed.

I love Bones. I think the marriage opens up a whole world of possibilities. The truth is…the show is interesting. The science is interesting. The characters are great. Bones will continue to be a good ratings show because of this. The marriage isnt the end game with this show like others because it was the obvious next step The next big bad, the other crazy things the supporting characters go though will keep interests peaking. The chemistry between Booth and Bones is unique to other programs in which otherwise would be old and done. I could even see more seasons of Bones.
