‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: More on a crucial Jane – Lisbon moment
Talking about Sunday night’s “new” episode of “The Mentalist” is a little bit of a tricky proposition, mostly because it has been presented to us in a little bit of a different way than most others in that it was already supposed to have aired.
We’ve already aired out most of our grievances with CBS over some of the way in which they handled the show getting bumped a week due to football, but the challenge when it comes to getting scoop about this episode comes via finding something that even the normal spoiler-hunter would not know. After all, the network for some insane reason forgot to check to ensure that there was not a promo for the next episode beyond this airing immediately afterward, and some spoilers regarding the case are already out there.
What may be somewhat more of a revelation for you to hear, which has not been highlighted elsewhere, is that there is going to be some sort of significant scene during this episode when it comes to Jane and Lisbon. TV Guide was the first to report this news, and it should be a moment that most fans have been waiting for. While it may not give you everything at once, it may at least be some sort of recognition that when the Red John case is finally over, Jane may be able to start to settle down and consider the possibility of trying to move on with his life. At the end of the day, isn’t this what his late family would have wanted for him?
Even though you do get a little bit of a tease here, don’t expect too much when it comes to the couple for at least a little while longer. This show only has three episodes left to tie together its biggest mystery, and thanks to that, the story is going to be very much focused on the investigation. Let’s just hope that there are no more insane football delays to mess it up.

I like both characters very much, and it’s clear they care for each other very much, even though they know each other’s dark secrets. They’d be a lousy romantic couple, though. Too many differences between them. Lisbon wants and needs stability and security, and Jane needs change and challenges and chances to break the rules.

Yes PLEAsEE I want Jane to end up with Lisbon! There have been signs that she has feelings for him over the seasons… she hated it when he was with Loralie you could tell and Jane seems to care more about Theresa than anyone else in his life. I think he has loved her for years he just is not able to let what happened to his family go. I hope there is another season without all this Red John business because I love Jane and Lisbon best when they are solving regular crimes and not all this Red John Hoo ha. Hate that Rigsby and Van Pelt are leaving the show!!! So Sad :(

How are you so sure it is not Walter Mashburn?? Have you taken a very close look at the “clues?” that have been laced throughout the action, from season 2 to the present? Have you noticed in season 3 the episode where Lisbon and Walter have their one-night stand, the fact that the headboard is a bamboo forest (where tigers live) and the rug is a tiger rug–the rug the camera pans to twice, including the final shot? How about his charm, his money, his phobias, his time in reform school (Visualize), his age, the constant use of red in dealing with him (sweaters, boats) and the constant one liners strewn throughout the dialogue. Take a very close look. Who’s pulling the strings? Whose waking Lisbon at 4:30 in the morning and requesting the Jane join her for the investigation of a crime that hasn’t yet been committed? Who called Bertram to make the request–someone very rich and powerful (according to Jane) and then Walter shows up in his fancy car. Who has the charisma to make women swoon and willingly give up their lives rather that be questioned–old Bret Stiles, working man Hafner, over-weight Reid, frumpy Sheriff what’s his name? Unless you really do have some pretty solid “evidence” verses hunches, and unless Currie Graham has simply said he won’t do any more episodes (alla Downton Abbey syndrome), remember films and story-based texts are not real life. Every word of dialogue (Washburn vs. Mashburn, for example), every shot, every detail is there by design–all signs, and in my book, the logical choice is Walter.

No, not a Jisbon fan at all. If anything his familial feelings for Lisbon work as an obstacle should he start to have romantic feelings for another woman.
