‘Mad Men’ season 7: Production reportedly halted after LAX shooting
“Mad Men” season 7 has just begun production, but in the wake of a tragedy on Friday it had to be put to very quick halt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there was at least a crew presence and possibly more at Terminal 4 at the Los Angeles International Airport at the time in which the shooting took place in Terminal 3. Citing some now-deleted posts from a crew member on Twitter, production was shut down in the wake of what happened.
This is a rare example of someone from “Mad Man” actually sharing their thoughts on anything, but this is obviously a very tragic circumstance, given that a man lost his life during the shooting and others were injured. Production on “Mad Men” should resume without any further interruption, and also probably without many people answering any questions about it to the press.
There were many television personalities in or around LAX at the time of the shooting, including Tory Bellici of “MythBusters” and “How I Met Your Mother” co-creator Craig Thomas, who were both in the terminal at the time of the shooting. Tory’s Twitter description of the event is particularly harrowing, and was a legitimate source of information from the inside before many media outlets.
As for “Mad Men,” season 7 is not expected to premiere on AMC until the spring of next year, and is going to air in batches of seven episodes, with the latter one coming in the spring of 2014. We could go in this article speculating about ideas and stories, but it really feels in poor taste given the subject matter. Let’s just be happy that the responders at the scene were able to contain the situation, and that the majority of those in danger were saved. Our thoughts are with the family of the one who was not.
