‘The Client List’ season 3 not happening; Lifetime cancels show after Jennifer Love Hewitt talks

Jennifer Love Hewitt -The Client List” has apparently already seen its last client. Earlier this year, the indication was that the Lifetime show was going to be back for a third season, at least if the talks between Jennifer Love Hewitt (who was an executive producer on the show) and some of the other producers worked out the terms of the story’s direction.

Originally, the debate over the future of the show was about which the actress’ pregnancy would be written into the series. Hewitt reportedly was in particular hoping that the child would belong on the show to her real-life other half Brian Hallisay’s character, while everyone else involved had another idea.

This entire issue is one that for Lifetime, may not cause them to lose that much sleep at night. The network already has another new hit in “Witches of East End” that they can fall back on, and they also recently renewed “Drop Dead Diva” for another season. This move may have been in part thanks to their realization that they did not want to wait around for more “Client List,” given that by the time production on a new season would be up and going, it would have been a year after the show first aired its last season. You can’t expect viewers of a sudsy show like this to actually want to sit around and wait that long. It just doesn’t happen.

As for Hewitt, she is still developing other projects for Lifetime, and could have a career in the producing department moving forward, even if she chooses to not star in another series. Prior to this show, she was best known by TV audiences courtesy of her role in “Ghost Whisperer,” which featured a man in Jamie Kennedy who was also at one point a real-life love interest.

We can’t honestly say that this news was even close to a surprise, mostly because it goes along with something that we personally consider to be somewhat of an unwritten rule: If your show has been off the air for months and no announcement has been made, it’s probably not coming back.
