‘Charmed’ remake: Just how lukewarm are Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan on CBS project?

CBS -In case you missed the news last week, one of the biggest stunners that came through the TV pipeline was the reveal that there could be a new version of “Charmed” possibly hitting the airwaves on CBS. It’s an ambitious idea to take on a show that was once so incredibly popular, but there is also another question that you need to ask along with it: Has it really been long enough since the original show was on TV? You have to remember here that “Charmed” 1.0 is not that old, and it is something that many still talk about.

Apparently, we’re not the only one wondering these same questions, as some of the original show’s stars are throwing CBS an angry glare for even considering a remake just because witches are supposedly the big thing right now. Let’s start with Rose McGowan, who didn’t name names, but still made her opinions pretty clear on Twitter:

“They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood. lame lame lame lamertons.”

Meanwhile, Alyssa Milano was a little bit more direct in her response:

“The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is… it just… it feels like yesterday. It feels too close.”

The thing here is that you really can’t just dismiss these comments as coming from people who are jealous or wanting to get a job on the show. These two ladies already have plenty on their schedule, with Milano actually working two TV jobs in between “Mistresses” and “Project Runway All-Stars.” They just seem to understand rather clearly that there is nothing all that appealing about the idea of getting a show on the air so soon after it was put to bed. We don’t think that “Charmed” is necessarily even the sort of property that would be a guaranteed hit on CBS, and they would be better off coming up with something themselves. (Take, for example, a witch that teams with a tough beat cop to solve mysteries. They’re very good at that.)

Tell us: Do you think that a “Charmed” remake could work? Share below! Remember that this is just a project in development for now, so there is no guarantee that this will even make it to the pilot stage.
