‘Strike Back’ renewed by Cinemax for season 4, will be show’s last
Cinemax has only lately really started to get their toes wet with mainstream original programming, but they are now also getting ready to send one of their originals off to pasture. In a statement today, the network confirmed that there will be a season 4 of “Strike Back” comprised of ten new episodes, but it will sadly also be the last run of the show.
So what is the reason for seeing the end of this show right now? It may just be as simple as there not being a substantial story left to tell, or that the show feels like they are done. One thing that you do have to remember (and that you really always have to remember when it comes to Cinemax) is that this is not a network with a huge subscriber base like HBO, and they often cannot support a show financially for as long as their sister station can with something like “True Blood” or “Game of Thrones.” There comes a time when a series unfortunately gets too expensive to make, and you have to send them on their way.
At least Cinemax is going the classy route here and making sure that everyone who does love the show gets an opportunity to say goodbye the proper way. There is nothing more infuriating on this end than seeing a show air on a network in which you actually have to pay to watch it, only to in turn find out that it is canceled without getting an opportunity to watch it end in a proper manner. So rejoice that this is not something that you are going to see play out here by any means. There will be a chance to craft something memorable, and if you enjoy the series, then you are going to have an opportunity to give it a proper goodbye.
What is your reaction to “Strike Back” ending; are you sad to see it go, or do you feel almost at the same time like it is time to wave farewell to the show? Be sure to share all of your thoughts with a comment below.
