‘Masters of Sex’ episode 5 preview: Discussions of ‘chemistry,’ the truth

Masters of Sex -Over the course of the first four episodes of the season, “Masters of Sex” has created quite the unique tapestry for itself. There are layers upon layers of characters, and each one of them in turn has their own unique motivations and relationships to one other. For example, Virginia Johnson has no interest in being anywhere near Ethan, and seems to be at least somewhat unaware of the fact that every man on the show seems to be interested in being with her, whether it be Masters, Ethan, or of course her own ex-husband.

But next week, some of this may come to a head as Libby starts to feel Masters becoming even more distant than usual. It has to be noticeable for her that he is devoting so much time to work, and that he also does not appear to be altogether elated about her pregnancy. It may not be completely overt, but the feelings are still there regardless.

What makes this entire process rather interesting to behold as that there could be a certain percentage of this that is just the result of us projecting as a viewer. What does make the “Masters of Sex” viewing experience different from any other show on television is that you know the way in which this is going to end, and that is with Virginia and Masters eventually getting together and becoming husband and wife. The intrigue for the show comes in the way in which it happens, and how some events slowly over time start to shape and morph into a relationship between the two. So far, it has definitely been a slow build, but will it really stay that way forever? Time will tell, and Sunday’s episode is going to be a major indicator into how much time we are really talking about here. At least so long as the quality stays at a similar sort of level to what it has been as of late, it is hard to be disappointed.
