‘Mad Men’ season 7: Could Peyton List return to work with John Slattery again?
Since we simply cannot get enough of all things “Mad Men” these days, even with the show being on hiatus for a while, why not start asking some of the important questions now?
Today, the speculation begins as to whether or not we could see more of Jane again on the show, given that Peyton List is now a star on “The Tomorrow People,” and this films all the way in Vancouver while “Mad Men” is back in the United States. Not only that, but the entire situation is made all the more difficult thanks to the fact that we don’t know if the writers have any more need for her character, given that Roger Sterling has diverged in so many ways over the years.
However, List at least appears open to the possibility, based on the sole comment that she made in an interview with IGN:
“I’m sort of having a hard time wrapping my around the fact that that show is coming to an end. It seems like it’s gone really quickly, but at the same time you’re like, ‘Well, no, so many things of changed over the years.’ The series has taken such an interesting journey, really. But in terms of knowing, I’m the last person to know anything, which I’m kind of okay with because then I never get in trouble. They just keep me in the dark, and then it’s safe, right? It’s just as exciting for me when I find out something on Mad Men, because I had no idea. Works for me.”
One thing that does make the decision-making for Matthew Weiner as to who to bring back is the fact that the show has adjusted its schedule so dramatically. Now, there are 14 episodes airing over the course of two years; that has to be a writers’ dream in that it gives you an opportunity to create what you want to create, but at the same time, that’s asking a lot out of your viewers to be this patient with a show that has been losing a little bit of it’s steam. It may also require them to use their leads so much to hold interest that some of the supporting roles start to become a little bit lost.
