‘Criminal Minds’ season 9 spoilers: A.J. Cook on mysterious JJ – Mateo Cruz relationship

What happened during JJ’s time away on “Criminal Minds”? This is a question that the show will be exploring eventually, but we imagine that the little carrot that was dangled over the fanbase recently has quite a few people antsy for answers. Last night on the show, it was revealed that JJ and the new section chief Mateo Cruz (Esia Morales) have some sort of history, and it’s possible that there could have been something romantic and scandalous there … with the emphasis of course being on the word “possibly.”

For now what AJ Cook is saying on the subject is that the relationship between Cruz and JJ is going to be interesting when it is actually revealed. Just be sure to see what Cook has to say to TVLine if you want to find out more:

“People are going to be a little confused as to what exactly their relationship is — and the great thing about it is we really don’t answer any questions. We just let it hang there, for a while. But I hope people stick with it, because it’s a beautiful thing.”

Fans mostly just need to stick with it until the 200th episode, since that really is when some of the bigger scoop in regards to the story is going to be revealed. When that happens, there will once again be a cause for celebration. However, until that time we really just see more uncertainty simmering, and some fans potentially starting to lose their minds a little bit. It’s understandable since the general habit for this show is to give you a mystery, but then not wait very long before finding a way to solve it.
