‘The Walking Dead’ season 4: More cartwheels over Michael Cudlitz casting

The Walking DeadThe rich just keep getting richer. Michael Cudlitz is a brilliant TV actor, and the kind that any show would be happy to have, so when a series that is already breaking records somehow figures out a way in which to snatch him up, we certainly understand if some folks out there are feeling a little bit envious.

The Walking Deadhas themselves a gem in the “Southland” star and recent Critics Choice Award winner. He’s the sort of guy who morphs into whatever he is meant to be, and thanks to that, he’s going to make Abraham into the sort of man who could rival Daryl Dixon on the awesome scale, or at least so we hope. In talking about Abraham it seems that the actor as an ideal reflection of the comic character, just check out comic creator Robert Kirkman’s comments to Entertainment Weekly:

“Because he is amazing and very much fits the character. Abraham is a larger than life character that comes in and bowls over the characters. He’s just a take charge kind of guy and we need somebody that has that presence, that can stand up to characters like Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes and really hold his own. This is a guy that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Tyreese and be imposing and that’s something that we needed and that’s something that Mr. Cudlitz delivers quite well.”

When will you first see him? As we said in our initial story about his casting, Cudlitz will likely surface for the first time at around the midway point of the season, though he will be a major presence the rest of the way along with his traveling companion Eugene. (If you want to read a little more about playing him, our advice is to take a look at the link here.) Thankfully, this is an actor who won’t be just worried about recreating the performance of the guy in the comics and he plans to bring something new to it, which is something that we really like to feel is the vein of what Kirkman is trying to do with the show versus the comic.
