The CW orders more scripts for ‘The Originals,’ ‘The Tomorrow People,’ and still-unaired ‘Reign’
With the exception of Monday night’s lineup of “Hart of Dixie” and “Beauty and the Beast,” we imagine that The CW is currently having quite a great week for itself. The ratings for many new series have been solid, and “Supernatural” especially was a bright spot this weekend, as the show drew one of its best overall ratings in ages.
So what is the network doing to celebrate? They are working to show a bigger commitment to trying some of their new shows out for a while longer by ordering more scripts. Per TV Guide, the following has had more scripts ordered for each of the following shows:
“The Originals” – This move is hardly a surprise, since we assume that the show will get a full season at least at the end of the day. While a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic is not a breakout hit, it’s a solid score that is well above what most of the network’s shows normally average. Luckily, it has already withstood some of its toughest competition, as well. The quality just needs to stay high and it will survive.
“The Tomorrow People” – We’re still torn on this one. The pilot was hardly phenomenal, and there still needs to be another week so that we can actually see whether or not the show keeps the audience or improves, but this series has potential.
“Reign” – The CW really must be rather proud of this show to order more scripts before it even premieres, but it has the benefit of premiering right after “The Vampire Diaries” going for it. Plus, it’s been promoted heavily all week long. With this much hype we are expecting good things from this show.
