‘American Idol’ winner Candice Glover releases new clips of ‘Music Speaks’ track ‘Cried’
As of late, there has only been one word that we would use to try and describe what “American Idol” has been doing when it comes to Candice Glover and her debut album “Music Speaks”: Creating a mess. Interscope has already delayed the album into oblivion (or at least until February 18), and there has not exactly been a ton of promotion for Candice during this process which is a total shame, given that her voice is without question one of the best to ever come out of the show.
One of the concerns that we have had over the past few months is if Candice can really succeed in a format that has not been that kind to any female with a big voice save for maybe Beyonce; however, we think that the snippets that we are here to share from “Cried,” one of the songs that is going to be on the album, have us a little bit more optimistic as to what the overall disc could sound like. It’s got a nice pop-soul vibe, but what we really like is that it’s almost a little bit of a female Bruno Mars meets Billy Joel; it’s retro, but current-feeling at the same time.
But regardless of whether or not we like the music, the success of “Music Speaks” is going to depend almost entirely on just how much promotion Interscope decided to give her at the end of the day. This is the sort of thing that helped launch Phillip Phillips into a guy with two hit singles, whereas Jessica Sanchez was left without much support save for maybe in the Philippines.
Do you like Candice’s song, and does this make you even more annoyed in some ways about the complete lack of attention that she seems to be getting right now? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Be sure to also click here if you are curious about some of what the show has planned for next season.

There are so many people out there with great voices!! But not all of these people have the star quality (the “it” factor, whatever it is). And not all of these great singers have the ability to connect with the audience and make them want to see/hear more.
Both Candice and Jessica have amazing voices and both are lovely girls, but the public wants more than just the voice.
Interscope isn’t that stupid, they wouldn’t miss an opportunity to make money off of the girls. But i guess Interscope has ways to determine the level of public interest in a singer. Thus, they wouldn’t spend tons of money promoting someone whose sales bring very little revenue in return. So I wouldn’t put all the blame on Interscope.
