‘The Sing-Off’ season 4 lands December 9 premiere date

We'll wait and see -Yes, we know that there are already a billion or so other singing shows on television, and with that in mind, there is not a whole lot of motivation to check out another one, especially as the talent pool is dwindling, but with that being said, we like to think of “The Sing-Off” as a little bit of a different beast. It not only has great talent and fun performances, but a judging panel that actually gives real, honest feedback about singing and how to improve certain things.

While the ratings were bad for it throughout season, it was airing in a much more difficult time slot in the fall; now that the show is returning to December, it should be able to thrive again with its predetermined fan base in tow. NBC confirmed today that we will see the series back on air starting on Monday, December 9, with what will be a two-hour event. The show will then air seven more times and say goodbye two days before Christmas on December 23. That is probably a risky proposition to ask viewers to tune in so close to Christmas, but it’s at least before Christmas Eve.

Most of the talent that has been around on the show in the past is coming back for more. Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman will return as judges, while Nick Lachey once again is going to be around to host the occasion. As we reported previously, Jewel is going to take the place of the final member of the panel, and will replace Sara Bareilles, who was around for the third season. (She’s opted more to focus on music, which is a shame because she was pretty fantastic on the show.)
