‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10: Has Shonda Rhimes considered another spin-off?

The latest -Many years ago, “Grey’s Anatomy” spawned another little show in “Private Practice,” and we quickly saw this show end up becoming a pretty solid hit for ABC for the majority of the time that it was on the air. But now that Kate Walsh’s series has come and gone, is it time for another? When you have a cast as big as this one, it’s only inevitable that the questions will be asked.

But, in the end, it doesn’t quite look like this is something that Shonda Rhimes is necessarily dying to do. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter where she talks about the idea of doing one, the showrunner explains that for the time being, there is nothing screaming at her that makes her want to do another:

“I’ve thought about that. Every once in a while, I come up with a crazy idea. When we did our war episode where we saw Owen’s past and the history of his PTSD, I always thought that was an amazing world, with the idea of a MASH unit. There are a lot of different worlds for a spinoff. Right now, Grey’s is doing its thing and doing it well, and we don’t need another spinoff at this moment in time.”

This is sad news in some ways, since we think that another spin-off could end up doing pretty well for ABC. However, it’s best to keep the whole crew together. Probably the best time in which to think of an idea will be as the show is winding down, and there may be a character or two who still have a story left to tell. Could they go and star somewhere else? We’d be open to seeing some of it for sure, even if it is something like Owen’s future after the hospital.

Thursday night marks the 200th episode of the show, and if you click here, you can catch a sneak peek detailing some of what is going to transpire.
