ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3: Ashley Madekwe wastes little time finding new gig

What happens? -Well, that didn’t take much time at all, did it? Only a matter of months after it was first revealed that Ashley Madekwe was going to be leaving “Revenge,” and less than two weeks after her final episode actually aired, the news has come out now that the actress has officially landed herself another gig on a show where she can cause all sorts of new trouble.

According to Deadline, Madekwe has joined the cast of “Salem,”the new series that is going to be ushering in a new era of original programming for WGN America. As for just who she will be playing, the actress will be taking on the role of the assistant-of-sorts to Mary Sibley, the woman that is the central character of the show.

This “Salem” series is coming about at a somewhat-interesting time, given the number of programs surrounding witches that there already are on television at the moment. FX has “American Horror Story: Coven” coming up tomorrow night, there are witches in “The Originals,” Lifetime has “Witches of East End,” and there are also some characters in both “The Vampire Diaries” and “True Blood” with the capability to cast a few spells here and there. Plus, there are probably a few of you out there who secretly think that Victoria Grayson is an evil witch. (Zing!)

“Salem” will premiere next year, and it will have quite a challenge in putting a network on the map that we honestly have not thought about much over the past several years. Luckily, they at least have one name now familiar to TV crowds.

Are you happy for Ashley and her new gig? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Meanwhile, take a look here if you want to catch a preview for the new “Revenge” episode airing on Sunday.
