NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Winner Danielle Bradbery performs for Blake Shelton, coaches

What's next? -Were you expecting a new episode of “The Voice” to air on Tuesday night? Well, about that …

Instead of airing the beginning of the battle rounds, or showing us some extended versions of the blind auditions that didn’t really get much in the way of screen time, NBC decided instead tonight to give us what was effectively a two-hour recap with a little bit of new interview footage and some silliness with the judges. In the end, there were only really two good reasons to watch this extravaganza go down: You are an obsessed fan who can’t miss a second of giant swirling red chairs on your Tuesday-night lineup, or you really love Danielle Bradbery and didn’t want to wait to hear her performance of “The Heart of Dixie.”

While we certainly hope that this is not the only performance that the reigning champion is going to make on the show this season, especially when you consider that there are fewer people watching the show tonight given the nature of the episode. She did a nice job with the opportunity that was given to her. It was at least good timing for her to perform the single while it is trying to climb up the charts, and she can therefore save a later performance to promote the actual release of her self-titled debut album during the holiday season. Given the lack of hugely-successful past contestants from the show, getting both her and Cassadeee Pope back for live performances are probably locks. (They are, at least commercially, the best thing that the show has going for it when it comes to finding success following the season finale.)

What do you think about Danielle’s performance, and NBC’s choice to air it during a recap show? To see some actual blind-audition highlights, just be sure to click here.
