‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15 spoilers: More on a complicated campaign
“Law & Order: SVU” has clearly shown over the years that they have no problem getting themselves mixed up in storylines that revolve around politics in some shape or form. Sometimes, the stories are even ripped from the headlines to a certain extent.
What we are here to write about today is an episode that is a little bit of a mix when it comes to reality and fiction. The title for this installment (airing on October 23) is called “October Surprise,” and it revolves around something in the New York Mayoral election that is currently going on right now. This of course will probably make you think inevitably of Anthony Weiner; however, what is actually happening is far different and extremely scandalous when it comes to the series nature of crimes committed by someone who is tied to a candidate for New York City’s highest office.
Take a look at the full synopsis below:
“When ADA Barba’s (Raúl Esparza) childhood friend, Eddie Garcia (guest star Kirk Acevedo), is arrested for attempted rape, his connection to mayoral frontrunner Alex Muñoz (guest star Vincent Laresca) puts the campaign in jeopardy. But when an undercover investigation uncovers further misconduct by Muñoz himself, Detective Amaro (Danny Pino) and the SVU team wonder if Barba can put aside personal feelings to prosecute the men he used to idolize.”
At least by the time that this episode rolls around, it is looking a little bit like the show is moving away from the terrible aftermath of what happened to Benson, and is starting to focus a little bit on some other topics. We just hope that there is some excitement here, and not just the all-familiar “political story” of everyone being endlessly corrupt.
