‘Parks and Recreation’ star Rob Lowe’s new pilot greenlit by NBC
Even though Rob Lowe is taking off from “Parks and Recreation” midway though this season, he is clearly not spending too much time at all away from NBC, if he gets his way. There has been news circulating for weeks about this and just what the project could ultimately be, and some of the details are now finally out for the public to enjoy.
According to a report from Deadline, the show is a single-camera project entitled “The Pro,” and Rowe stars as a former tennis pro who is now forced to live a relatively mundane life working at a country club. This is not the most descriptive tease for a show ever, but it actually sounds original and pretty funny. Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory are set to write the script for the pilot, and casting news for it should follow in the weeks ahead.
For Lowe, this marks the latest attempt to take his career as a leading man on TV to the next level. While he has a little bit of a habit of leaving shows earlier in their runs, we don’t think there would be any problem with him staying here. He joined “Parks and Recreation” a little later into its run, and he and Rashida Jones leaving seemed to be a collaborative decision for all parties involved. The sad news here? We worry that it may be the Amy Poehler comedy’s last year, given that the ratings for the premiere were very low, and the show continues to air against the behemoth that is “The Big Bang Theory.”
What do you think about the idea for this show, and do you think that we are going to continue to see great things from Lowe on NBC? Just be sure to share your thoughts below!
