‘Covert Affairs’ renewed; 16-episode season 5 coming to USA in 2014

Covert Affairs -While USA may have said goodbye to ‘Burn Notice” earlier this summer, and “Psych” may or may not be filming their final season as we speak, “Covert Affairs” has proven itself to be a worthy addition to the network for at least a little while longer.

The hit USA Network show has decided to pick up the series for a fifth season, which will once again be sixteen episodes. The show will premiere in the summer, and the season will be split into parts. The reason that the episode count in particular is significant here is because some other shows as of late, whether it be “Royal Pains” or “White Collar,” have seen some shorter renewals from the network for a variety of different reasons. This renewal helps to further cement the show’s status alongside “Suits” as two of USA’s current tent poles. They have also put forth a great deal of time and effort into promoting the syndicated repeats of “Modern Family,” which are doing decent business (but not on the level that we have seen from “The Big Bang Theory’ over on its cable home of TBS).

The news about this renewal fittingly comes at a time in which the show could use some extra promotion. In just two weeks on October 17, the show will return to USA with the rest of its season, and will be paired with the beginning of “White Collar” season 5, which will continue early next year along with the rest of “Suits” season 3. It’s hard to get publicity for a cable show in October, so any little bit of effort that they can make to get the word out is definitely a good thing.

What do you think: Are you happy over this renewal news? Just be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and we will be back soon with some more news related to the show.
