For a new fall series, we current believe that “Sleepy Hollow” is really doing just about everything right. First of all, they made us buy into a premise that could have been otherwise perceived as silly, and within the span of the pilot, they made us care about the two main characters in Ichabod and Abbie.
Now, the show is doing something else that is rather nice: Giving us more reasons to care about these people without dragging it on deep into the series. The two previews that we have below from Monday night’s “For the Triumph of Evil” focus on Abbie’s sister, who is not someone particularly fond of cops. Why is that? Well, the simple answer is that she carries with her quite a bit of baggage … and also a record. She stole $4,000 worth of equipment from a sporting goods store, and then claimed that she was preparing for the end of times. Now, she is having to spend her time institutionalized in a facility.
The first of the sneak peeks is spent giving us a little bit of an impression as to why Jenny is locked up, and then in the second video, we actually have an opportunity to meet Jenny. When you consider her mental state, we do find it somewhat interesting that of all people, you would let a man named Ichabod Crane go in there and try to use her in order to help solve a new, mysterious case. Abbie thinks it is a lost cause and it may be, but we are at least happy to see that we have an opportunity to find out a little more about the character now.
