‘Mad Men’ season 7: Kiernan Shipka on future evolution of Sally Draper
While Sally Draper has at times been either an afterthought or an annoyance on “Mad Men,” she jumped straight to the forefront courtesy of what we saw near the end of season 6. In seeing Don attempt to sleep with Sylvia, she found out just what sort of man he really is. Then, she found out shortly after that just what sort of man that he wants to be courtesy of the scene at the end of the season, when he opened up for the first time about his past to his children.
While of course Kiernan Shipka cannot say too much right now about her character’s future (mostly in fear of Matthew Weiner unleashing the AMC army upon her), she did tell E! News about how we are going to see her character evolve, and start to become a little bit of a woman:
“Her style at the beginning, rightfully so, looked like her mother dressed her and that’s how it was supposed to be. But this season it looks like she is dressing herself a little bit more and getting a little bit more sassy. Her skirts have been getting shorter and shorter throughout the season.”
As we see Sally grow up further, maybe she and her father will develop a little bit more of an understanding now that he is starting to lose everything. However, we don’t imagine that it will happen fully until he and Megan are no longer together, and he really feels the full consequences for all of his actions. Then, maybe life starts to change for them.
