‘Big Brother 15’: Julie Chen explains not calling out GinaMarie Zimmerman, Spencer Clawson

What's she saying? -There are so many things that we could say right now about “Big Brother 15,” from the apology tours to the flip-flopping of various contestants on and off the show to look how buddy-buddy people are now that the season is over in an effort to save face. The number of people who don’t own up to their past actions, fans included, this year is probably at a record high.

We’re going to instead transition over to what we came to talk about here: The answer to a pretty much-asked question. Why didn’t Julie Chen give either Spencer Clawson or GinaMarie Zimmerman the same treatment for their offensive comments that she did Aaryn Gries? As she told Entertainment Weekly this week, much of it was simply due to a production choice to highlight gameplay rather than controversy at the end:

“We wanted the finale to be a celebration of who won, and not have the spotlight moved away from that person. We didn’t want the whole show to be me scolding the Houseguests.”

So what would have happened had Aaryn been in the final three then? Would she have also gotten off? Sadly, that is something that we’ll never know the answer to.

In all honesty, we don’t really think that we even needed a quote from Julie to figure out why she didn’t call out GinaMarie or Spencer during the final episode. Their comments weren’t shown on TV, except for GM getting personal with Candice as she left the house, and CBS is not going to open that sort of Pandora’s Box. Our personal belief as to why all of the comments weren’t shown is that not all directly impacted the story, and they also wanted to present a more palatable winner to show-only viewers in the event that they had some sort of terrifying GM / Spencer final two.
