‘Hell on Wheels’ season 3, episode 9 preview: Bohannon’s in big trouble
It’s not going to be long before the “Hell on Wheels” season 3 finale is upon us, and while you would think that the first sneak peek from next week’s new episode would touch somewhat on what happens with Mickey following Sean’s death, it instead takes on a very different subject. In particular, we are talking about Durant’s continued efforts to take Bohannon down a notch.
As you would figure, Durant does not exactly appreciate Bohannon sending any sort of threat at him, which is where the conflict arises that leads to the sneak peek below. It’s very much a scene with a traditional sort of Western feel to it, including horses chasing after the target.
Want to read some more basic details about the episode? Just take a look at the synopsis:
“With Gen. Grant’s deadline looming, a gang of riders attacks Cheyenne while Cullen and Elam pay Durant a visit.”
While we do very much enjoy “Hell on Wheels,” we’re starting to develop a rather interesting opinion on AMC’s treatment of it. Is this a show that they really want to keep around? It’s ratings are not terrible considering that they are putting it on the air on Saturday nights, otherwise known as the hardest night to actually make appointment viewing for. However, for whatever reason we don’t see it promoted at nearly the same level as even “Low Winter Sun,” which struggles to even come close to the same ratings despite getting a lead in from “Breaking Bad.” We’re hoping that a season 4 could at least be possible, especially given that “The Killing” is already canceled and “Low Winter Sun” will surely also be by the end of the first season. While this network doesn’t like to cancel early, sometimes a show flops so hard that you have no choice.
Is there anything else you specifically want to see on “Hell on Wheels” next week? Be sure to share below, and stay tuned for some more of the latest news. You can click here to read the most-recent episode review.

Hell on Wheels is one of the best independent shows to come along during the spate or shows on the cable networks, despite the difficulty of it being a western. They have the greatest villains, flawed heroes, realistic issues and are not afraid to kill off a main character or two to keep us guessing. Even the minor characters are fantatics. The Army’s Lt. Weston, who hangs the Mormon boy and studies phrenology is pure evil. Anson Mount will be a huge movie star based on this show. With Breaking Bad going away, other than Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels has no competition.

I have been watching TV westerns since “Cheyenne” first appeared on “Warner Bros. Presents” in the mid-1950s (before “Gunsmoke”) and this is clearly the best western series I have ever watched and as good as any of the great theatrical westerns (Seasons 1 and 2, anyway). I hope AMC’s big TV deal with the producers of this series means “Hell on Wheels” will be back. It is too bad they made the choice to kill off Lily Bell at the end of Season 2. If Eva also leaves, I am afraid the show is done, as what female audience it has will likely depart in droves.
