‘Suits’ season 3 spoilers: Are hopes for Harvey / Donna officially over?

If you look back at the summer finale for “Suits” earlier this week, a certain Harvey Specter made it very clear that at the moment, most of his romantic intentions are going to revolve around Scottie (Abigail Spencer). Heck, he’s even offered her a position at the firm without really consulting with Jessica about it.

So does this mean that the torch has been officially snuffed (to use a “Survivor” analogy) for Donna and Gabriel Macht’s character? It may seem that way for now, but you should never really give up on this. Series executive producer Aaron Korsh says to TVLine that really despite whatever she may think about Harvey, Donna really does care very much about his happiness and is going to try and be a metaphorical cheerleader for the two of them:

“Donna, regardless of what her feelings may or may not be about Harvey and Scottie, cares about Harvey. She wants him to be happy and is going to try to help him in this relationship like she did last year in [Episode] 216. That’s what’s going on for them in these last six.”

So basically, think of this as yet another sliver of evidence that Donna is one of the best friends out there for someone within the “Suits” world to have. Whatever feelings she be holding on to in her heart of hearts, she will continue to give her support… unless you are doing something ridiculous. The unfortunate thing is that we’re going to be waiting until January to figure out just what this potential new Scottie / Harvey relationship could look like.
