‘The X Factor’ UK: See new James Arthur, Union J, Lucy Spraggan videos

Take a look -Want to see some videos from some recent “X Factor” UK contestants? Well, allow us to lend you a helping hand! The first video that we have below is of reigning champ James Arthur and his new single “You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You.” It’s soulful, a little bit urban, and a whole lot of fun that shows off his signature vocal style. We don’t understand why James isn’t selling this single until October 20, but the music video is a pretty fun jam.

James’ debut album is going to be out this fall, well before Christmas so that it can be an ideal stocking-stuffer for folks in the UK. As for you American readers, you may be waiting for a while longer to see him cross over to America. One Direction and Little Mix did not attempt the jump until the spring after their albums came out, and given that he is a very different sort of singer than either of them, it’s hard to really base any pattern on some teen-friendly groups.

In switching gears here to talk about someone who is hardly teen-friendly at all, why not talk a bit about Lucy Spraggan’s new video? Odds are, you remember her song “Last Night (Beer Fear)” from her audition last year. It’s a fun, witty little song that is more or less the vocal form of “The Hangover.” The video for the track (which arrives September 29) is literally almost exactly what you would expect.

Finally, we turn to what has to be the biggest surprise coming out of this past season: Union J. Rather than coming on the market with either bubblegum-pop songs or dance-club hits that fail to really touch on their vocal strengths, these guys have come out with something that actually sounds a little bit more like OneRepublic that suits the Adult Contemporary market and shows off their voices. Doing this sort of music could enable them to have a longer career, and we really think that they are in some ways inspiring.

The video for “Beautiful Life” is below, and like with James, this track drops on October 20.
