‘Criminal Minds’ season 9 spoilers: The Kennedy factor

Who knew that an event that was fifty years ago could play the role in a modern-day shooting on TV? This is what the theme is going to focus on for the upcoming third episode of “Criminal Minds” season 9, which carries with it the title of “Final Shot,” and is going to involve the anniversary of the John F. Kennedy assassination. For those curious about specific dates here, this episode is going to air on Wednesday, October 9. Meanwhile, the anniversary of this event will be on the 22nd.

Now that we have the history out of the way, let’s shift now to what details CBS has been kind enough to hand us in an official press release:

“When a sniper strikes Dallas, the BAU investigates whether the upcoming anniversary of the Kennedy assassination is a motivating factor or if something else is driving the UnSub, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Oct. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Eva LaRue guest stars as FBI Agent Tanya Mays, who assists the BAU with the investigation.”

For LaRue, this is clearly a reunion with CBS, as she was a star for many years on “CSI: Miami” before its sudden cancellation. The unfortunate thing about this synopsis is that while the Kennedy assassination may be used as a possible motivating factor behind the shooting, we don’t really have any details just yet when it comes to the actual characters. This is a common theme when it comes to the show, as the only real hints that we have received so far about some of these characters are that there will be some flashback episodes that come up in the future (including with the landmark 200th episode).
