‘Downton Abbey’ season 4, episode 1 preview: What’s next for Laura Carmichael’s Edith?
Over the course of the past eight or so months, quite a bit has been said about what is coming up in terms of “Downton Abbey” season 4 when it comes to Lady Mary, Tom Branson, and how the two parties are going to move forward after some significant tragedy in their lives. They had the biggest changes when it comes to what could be coming up in their future, and it is definitely understandable that fans would want some answers.
But, what about Laura Carmichael’s character of Lady Edith? She was one of the more intriguing characters over the course of the entire series’ run, and she has a new relationship seemingly that could become even more intense over the season. Not only that, but she is also going to be a little bit more of a traveler.
With the 1920s being a time of great social change both in England and around the globe, we are going to have more opportunities now to see characters mingle and interact beyond the estate. For Edith, this means getting the opportunity to even meet some very famous faces … including Virginia Woolf! What is both nice and different about this encounter is that it is not often that “Downton Abbey” chooses to interject real-life famous folk into the world of the show. It provides a slightly different edge for them to explore, and it is definitely something that we like to see … in careful moderation, of course.
As season 4 progresses, what would you like to see from the Edith character? As always, we want to hear some of your thoughts with a comment below! Meanwhile, click here if you want to check out some more news about Mary via Joanne Froggatt, whose character of Anna is going to have her work cut out for her.
