‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 spoilers: Sheldon and the ‘Doctor Who’ dilemma
We spend so much time thinking about “The Big Bang Theory” in terms of the characters and their relationships with each other than there is often one thing we forget about in the process: Their relationship to some of their obsessions, whether it be movies, TV shows, or video games. And to be honest, there are quite a few topics for the show to address this year. Both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One are coming out this year, and Microsoft got pretty lucky that the sitcom does not shoot during the summer so that Sheldon could not rant against them for their temporary trading-games policy.
Also, there is the new “Star Wars” trilogy coming out now, another “Hobbit” movie this fall, and also a chance for the characters to review “Star Trek Into Darkness” or even the new “Riddick” movie if they are really that desperate.
In response to a question about “Star Wars” to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steve Molaro makes it clear that there is one subject that the show is particularly excited to address right now in the hiring of Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor:
“I’m sure they will [talk about ‘Star Wars’], and you’re leaving out a new Doctor Who! That’s a big deal that I think Sheldon finds to probably be extremely stressful.”
If there is an entire episode involving Sheldon freaking out over The Doctor, then we would absolutely love it. While not every viewer who watches this show would really understand what he is talking about, we also don’t think that most people who watched the show got his rant against “Alphas” on Syfy last season (though that episode turned out to be the cable network’s worse nightmare as it reminded angry fans about them canceling the show).
What geek subject do you want to see the “Big Bang Theory” guys take on this year? Take a look here if you want to read some more scoop related to the show, at least in terms of a character’s mom coming on board yet again.
