‘The Voice’ UK: Kylie Minogue replaces Jessie J, joins will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones

Big news -There are some official changes now for “The Voice” UK, as we now know who is going to be joining the likes of will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones on the panel when the show returns for season 3 on BBC One early next year.

In a statement on the show’s official site, pop superstar Kylie Minogue confirmed the news of her appearance after weeks of rumors, stating that she is a longtime fan of the show and excited to see whether or not she can help in the journey to find a new potential star:

“I’m very excited to become a Coach on The Voice. I love the concept of the show and have been an avid viewer of both series. The search for new talent is such an important aspect of the music industry and The Voice gives us all a part to play in that. Will I be competitive? Probably more than even I imagine! Watch this space!”

The Minogue family clearly has a history of judging already with Kylie’s sister Dannii serving as a member of the British “X Factor” for many years. Given that Kylie is a huge success in Britain and most of Europe, we imagine that this is a get that BBC is happy with. The issue of whether or not she will be entertaining should be unearthed in the first few weeks of the season, and as for whether or not she helps find talent, we’re setting our sights low. That is no offense to Kylie, but rather a statement about just how spotty the “Voice” franchise is at actually producing stars. The show has always relied on the coaches as much as the singers, which is great for entertainment but not always star-making.
