‘So You Think You Can Dance’ season 11 official; Nigel Lythgoe confirms during finale
How’s this for some great news from the “So You Think You Can Dance” finale? And to think, we are not even talking about the winner here.
Early on in the show, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe confirmed that the dance competition would indeed be coming back for an 11th season, which will air on Fox next summer. This news is both glorious and surprising, given that we were not quite sure that it would happen. Ten seems like a nice number to go out on, after all, and the ratings this year have not exactly been phenomenal. Then again, you can also say that the show has had quite the burden this year of airing against “America’s Got Talent,” “Pretty Little Liars” on cable, and of course dealing with summer.
We’re just going to take this renewal news as a sign that there is some sort of little guardian angel hovering over everyone at Fox, who is making sure that the show sticks around. We have to thank them a million times. Not only is this show supremely entertaining, but it is a showcase of real artistic ability in a day and age where we really don’t get that many opportunities to see it. While so many other reality shows appeal to the lowest common denominator, this one continues to come up with some interesting and exciting new ways to challenge itself and stay artistic.
