ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Shonda Rhimes brings on ‘Private Practice’s’ Paul Adelstein

More scoop -The following news makes us extremely excited, but we also have to be completely honest here in saying that we saw it coming a mile away in terms of the possible people that Shonda Rhimes could bring on “Scandal” for season 3. By a sort of general rule with her, she will traditionally be pretty good to you if you are good to her. Therefore, there is no real reason to worry about some of her former actors finding new roles on some of her other shows.

Following Scott Foley of “Grey’s Anatomy” making his debut on the show in the spring, TVLine reports that Paul Adelstein of “Private Practice” fame has signed on for a major recurring role on the drama’s third season.

As for who he is playing … good luck trying to figure it out. Rhimes and everyone else on the show is staying extremely tight-lipped for the time being, offering little to no hints much in the same way that we saw when Foley was first introduced as a major guest star. Clearly, producers think that they have something potentially-special here, and they do not want to do anything to ruin the surprise just yet.

We are mostly just thrilled to hear this news because we are dealing with someone here in Adelstein who was outstanding on almost everything that he did on “Private Practice” as Cooper, and this means that he won’t be out of work long. He filmed a pilot in the spring with Debra Messing entitled “Mother’s Day,” but CBS opted to not pick it up for the new season.
