‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley on new struggles

When you are a Salvatore brother on “The Vampire Diaries,” there is one thing that you can seemingly always count on: Life is not always going to be particularly easy for you. Even though you may be as close to immortal as someone on this earth can be, people are still going to find a way to cause some chaos in your life. For both Damon and Stefan, the general feeling right now is that this said harbinger of chaos is going to be Silas.

In a video from today’s edition of “10 on Top” that you can see below (via Wetpaint), you can get a very-brief taste on what Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley each feel about what this character (also played by Wesley) is going to do to Mystic Falls. While Stefan’s struggles with the ancient character / his doppelganger is going to be pretty obvious (mostly because he will be drowning again and again), Somerhalder teases that Damon is going to have plenty of problems of his own trying to deal with him.

“Silas is definitely going to be Damon’s biggest problem in Season 5 because he poses a real, significant threat.”

Given that this is “The Vampire Diaries,” you can also pretty well count on both Damon and Stefan having more to worry about beyond just one thing. For example, Damon will be concerned of course about his relationship with Elena (Nina Dobrev), and is going to have to try and tap into that human part of him again rather than just focus on being the snarky vampire.
